Mediation Services: Small Claims Mediation

If you have a small claims dispute but you have not yet filed with the Small Claims Court, you may wish to pursue mediation as an alternative to litigation. If you choose mediation prior to litigation and do not reach an agreement, you still have the right to proceed to Small Claims Court if you choose to do so. Plaintiffs and defendants in Small Claims Courts in Ypsilanti , Chelsea , Howell, and Livingston have the opportunity to resolve their dispute through mediation within the court process. There is no charge to the parties for mediation conducted by the Center when it is ordered by the court.

Small claims mediators have fulfilled the mediator requirements with the Michigan Community Dispute Resolution Program.

If you are interested in requesting a mediation outside of the Court process, you can directly contact The Dispute Resolution Center through our online form or by calling our office in Washtenaw County at 734-222-3745 or in Livingston County at 517-546-6007.
