Abusiveness and Mediation

If a party in a dispute has been abusive, mediation is usually not an option.

Mediation works when everyone at the table feels like an equal. So when you speak to a staff member about your conflict, also tell them if abuse has occurred. A determination can be made at that time whether to proceed with mediation.
