The DRC's nationally recognized trainers offer training in mediation and conflict resolution on a regular schedule and also in partnership with other social service providers, community organizations, schools, and businesses on an as-needed basis. Customized training programs can be developed to meet specific needs.
MEDIATOR TRAINING (40-HOUR Community/General Civil)
Our intensive 40-hour training includes lectures, large and small group exercises, role-plays and approved course materials needed to learn mediation skills for your personal or professional use.
FOR CIVIL COURT MEDIATORS attorneys and those who wish to fulfill the training requirements of Michigan Court Rules MCR 2.410 and MCR 2.411. This program is approved by the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) for court roster mediators. (Includes qualified trainers/coaches as required by MCR 2.410 and MCR2.411 as well as post-training mediation opportunities to satisfy court roster requirements). COST $995*
FOR COMMUNITY MEDIATORS educators, administrators, social service providers, mental health workers, human resource personnel , law enforcement and community members who wish to acquire skills to promote peaceful resolution of conflict in their profession, their families and as volunteer mediators. COST $315*

INSTRUCTOR:
Anne Smiley, MA, is a professional mediator, with
specialized training in domestic, school, and community mediation. She
currently maintains her own business, Mediation Management Services,
offering conflict resolution training, mediation, and facilitation services
in Lansing, MI. She is the former director of the Dispute Resolution Center
of Central Michigan as well as the former chair for the education section of
the Association for Conflict Resolution. Ms. Smiley is a certified trainer
with the State Court Administrator’s Office for civil mediations as well as
domestic violence screening protocol for domestic mediators. She is an
adjunct professor at Cooley Law School teaching civil
mediation
